About the Role
Blooio needs someone who can run IT as a function and still do the work. You manage the people and the systems - networking, server hardware, identity, and the production environment - and you write software. This is a player-coach seat: manager, operator, and programmer in one.
You will own the IT function from the start and hire, direct, and review people as the team grows. When something is down, you diagnose it and you are the primary on-call - nights and weekends included. The role includes a 401k and health insurance.
Responsibilities
- Manage the IT function - hire, direct, and review the people on it as the team grows
- Own office and production networking - routing, DNS, VLANs, firewalls, Wi-Fi, and uptime
- Specify, rack, maintain, and troubleshoot server hardware
- Administer servers, identity, and access
- Debug issues across the stack: network, OS, services, and applications
- Serve as primary on-call for outages and incidents, including nights and weekends
- Procure, stage, and track hardware
- Triage incidents, write runbooks, and escalate product bugs to engineering
- Write scripts and software to automate networking, hardware, and support work
- Set the standards for how systems are stood up and handed off
Qualifications
- At least 4 years of professional IT experience and at least 2 years of professional programming experience
- Experience as a manager - you have led people, not only systems
- Hands-on server hardware experience - speccing, installing, and repairing machines
- In-depth knowledge of the full network stack
- Can write production-quality scripts or software (Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar) without being walked through it
- Willing to serve as primary on-call for outages and incidents outside business hours
- Experience in a startup or small company where you owned IT rather than a ticket queue
- Comfortable working in-person in San Diego County, full-time, Monday through Friday
- Comfortable using AI tools in day-to-day work
